Introduction

The informatics & DSP group was established by Prof. Jyh-Horng Chen with the aim of researching and mining knowledge from medical data, such as medical images, physiological signals and medical literatures. This group is currently co-led by Dr. Chien-Chang Ho and Dr. Yi-Ping Chao. Our interests mainly focus on the research of biomedical image processing (image informatics), biomedical signal processing (biomedical informatics) and data mining (neuroinformatics).

  • In the field of image informatics, current research topics include the fiber tracts connection from a multi-fiber system by using the continuous tracking (MFACT) algorithm, developing a cross-analysis platform tool for analyzing 3D fMRI data with 3D visualization, and automatically abstracting salient regions in blood vessel images.
  • In the field of biomedical informatics, current research topics include recognizing the emotion responses during multimedia presentation using the electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and studying the user’s affective responses on music contents using physiological signals.
  • In the field of neuroinformatics, we have developed a web-based Human Brain Functional Mapping Knowledge Base (HBFMKB) system to mining human brain-function association model from vast Medline abstracts for understanding the human brain function.

In this technical demonstration we showcase an interactive content presentation that integrates media-expressed emotions composition, user-perceived preference feedback, and interactive digital art creation under an unified framework.
Friendly human-computer-interface using physiological signals

We study the user’s affective responses on music contents using physiological signals up to now. Our study focused on the responses of emotional arousal and valence using several physiological signals such as EMG, Resp., Pulse and SCR, etc.
